Overland Park Spanish Academy
A city in Kansas, Overland Park is rich with Spanish culture and heritage with its population of Hispanic and Latino residents steadily on the rise. Its 2006 U.S. census reported a population of 163,578, and roughly 4% of that number claims to come of Hispanic or Latino origin.
Overland Park recognizes its Hispanic and Latino residents with events like salsa dances and mariachi bands, as well as specific meet-up groups. Other celebrations, such as cultural festivals, include activities for everyone in the family including the children, and they can be fun as well as educational. Area libraries even have story times focused on Latino authors, so children of all heritages can get some education on what Latino culture is all about.
Overland Park’s diversity, including strong Hispanic traditions are just a couple reasons why youngsters would benefit from learning about the Spanish language and heritage.
